For my final assignment, I'm focusing on Colleen Cooke, one of the 13 committee members for the presidential search. Initially, I emailed her for an interview request for my feature journalism class, but it won't work out. But, with her already having agreed to an interview, I'm making lemons out of lemonade. Cooke joined Slippery Rock University in 1997, and holds the current position of Therapeutic recreation faculty member. From the outside looking in, Cooke is another faculty member, but her adversity comes in the form of the presidential search. If possible, I'm requesting a special timeline highlighting her life only from the time of the presidential search until now. Below is her email to me regarding the search.
"HI Josh, I'd be happy to be interviewed, but as someone who was and is on the search committee, I must tell you - and insist - that there was absolutely NO conflict of interest with two committee members. That was, in my opinion, an effort to sabotage the search process on the part of one member of the committee who is also on the Council of Trustees. If you want the truth about what happened, I'd be happy to talk with you, but if you go with your angle, I'm afraid I can't participate. Let me know what you think.Dr. Cooke."
