The attention Russ has lately been giving Doja Cat is apparently more than just the platonic show of respect.
Last month, Russ posted a then-bizarre tweet, writing: “I think Doja cat is going to be a massive star. She has IT. Wildly talented.” While unprompted, onlookers dismissed the gesture as nothing more than an appreciation of art, which Russ doubled down on a few days later by name-dropping Doja in a verse on his track “MOMMA.”
But then Doja led a spontaneous Instagram live.
Earlier this week, Doja’s Instagram live and seamless continuation of Russ’ affinity for the crooning “Bottom B*tch” artist - Russ joined the live session to the dismay of Doja - took a turn down a street no one foresaw. After stating “no one gives a f*ck about you” to Russ, Doja seemingly backpedaled: “Russell, I’m gonna f*ck ya, but hold on, truth is, shut the f*ck up.” If only it always was that easy for men with women, but it remains undetermined if the couple made Doja’s assertion official. Considering Doja's in a relationship with Johny Utah, Russ' lucky day may never come, though the status of the relationship is unconfirmed since the Instagram live.
On the music front, Doja recently was announced for an appearance at the Lovers And Friends festival as part of their newly added second date. Preceding his encounter with Doja, another Instagram interaction went wrong for Russ, when a fan mistook him for a UK rapper of the same name. Moving forward, perhaps, Russ should limit his activity on the social media site altogether, though he poked fun at Doja's words on Twitter.
